About

We're your local club

Established in March 1979 by Grandmaster Evan Davidson, Khandallah Taekwon-Do is one of the oldest ITF Taekwon-Do clubs in New Zealand. Khandallah Taekwon-Do's very first training took place in Khandallah's historic town hall, with subsequent dojangs since moving onto larger venues as the club grew! We currently train across two school halls, Cashmere Avenue School and Johnsonville Primary School in Wellington's northern suburbs.

Affiliated to the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), Khandallah has been training students across Wellington for over four decades. We are privileged to have welcomed many students through our dojang.

What's the meaning?

Taekwon-Do is a version of unarmed combat designed for the purpose of self defence. Though it is a martial art, its discipline, techniques and mental training are the mortar for building a strong sense of justice, fortitude, humility and resolve. "Tae" means jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot - "Kwon" denotes the fist - to punch or destroy with the fist - "Do" means art or way.

Our club promotes a fun and friendly family-oriented atmosphere for students of all ages. We work together to build confidence, strength and fitness in an empowering and fun way.

If you want to try a fun, inclusive martial art give Taekwon-Do a try.
